Learn the piano
- Read music from scratch,
- Learn to play from chord symbols,
- Undertake examination courses,
- Participate in practical music-making,
- Open to all ages and abilities,
- Formal technique,
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, your lessons will be tailor-made to your ability after a short assessment by the teacher during your first lesson (in order that a starting point is attained by your teacher). All ages are catered for. We encourage the reading of traditional notation from the start, but options remain open; if you desire to learn how to play chords, for instance, your lessons will be about the construction and reproduction of chords from the reading of symbols.
Examination courses are encouraged and pursued as a measure of progress and formal technique is delivered by the teacher. All combined with fun and an eagerness to return to your next lesson. But remember, development will only be enhanced by regular practise! Access to an instrument is essential and help/advice acquiring one is to hand. Your introductory lesson is FREE.
Fees have remained the same for 2 years now and there is no plan to change them in the near future. Our cost compares favourably to that of local music shops.
Procedure follows that payment is made in the last week of each month in order to securely book lessons for the subsequent month. Notice of cancelation must be given well in advance or you may be charged. The Academy will always offer another available slot of time if those emergency appointments do crop up – as they will. And likewise, the Academy will always guarantee a lesson each week.
