Great Tutor

Rated 5 out of 5

Lorraine is an amazing musician and tutor, she is so passionate about music and so invested in her students.
Old school ? yes,,,, she expects her pupils to work hard, to consistantly practice and to speak up if they need help. She bonds well with her pupils and wants music to be fun. Lorraine often organises music events for the pupils to get together and play to each other to help build confidence prior to the pupils exams. She also arranges theatre trips and invites all her pupils and families along to local live music events.
She has taught my daughter piano from Grade 1 to Grade 7 to date. She looks forward to her lessons and loves Lorraines teaching style. Fabulous tutor 🙂

A Great Accompanist

Aside from a classically trained musician, Lorraine can accompany other musicians and singers without music, whatever the genre and whatever the key.
During accompanying, she can often add colour, texture and rhythms which compliment the performance.

I am one of Lorraine’s more mature students and I adore my lessons. Lorraine is a kind and friendly teacher with a vast amount of musical experience. Her lessons are engaging , fun and well prepared as she keeps thorough notes on every student’s progress from previous sessions. I love my lessons and feel inspired and uplifted after every session. Lorraine is a great teacher and I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in learning the violin, no matter what age you are.

I started having lessons with Miss Lorena a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. I can see a drastic improvement in my technique and performance already. Her teaching style is fun and has made me fall back in love with playing the violin which prior to her lessons I was about to stop playing completely.

What can I say about Lorraine Migliorini that can only be placed into a small box?
Lorraine started teaching me at the age of 11 years old. After a very short period of time, Lorraine’s passion, drive and enthusiasm for music left me with a burning desire to pursue music to a much higher level.
Having spent time learning about performance, composition and appraising, it was clear that Lorraine could make music a deeply interesting and engaging discipline. Not only did Lorraine teach me about the fundamentals of music, but she also challenged me to listen; to really listen. It was through a series of exercises over a period of time that allowed me to hear a piece of music and play said piece afterwards – one of my greatest joys as a musician.
Fast forward to today. I continued my music education at A level, for my degree, and for my teaching qualification. I am now an accomplished musician, Head of Music at a secondary school, a piano and voice teacher, and a conductor of multiple adult choirs to name but a few of my achievements. But, when people ask me how it all began, where my musical and pedagogical interests came from, it all comes down to the fantastically delightful lady who is Lorraine Migliorini.
I cannot thank you enough, Lorraine; for my direction in life, and for showing me that music speaks louder than words.
A note to prospective students… you won’t regret it!!!

I’ve been taking Piano Lessons with Ms Loraine for around 3.5 years now and I’ve improved so much. My technique as well as my overall interest in music has increased ten fold. Ms Loraine is an exceptional teacher and an amazing person and is able to keep the lessons lively and interesting in a way most piano teachers don’t. I thoroughly enjoy our lessons and am really amazed with the progress we’ve made.

Lorraine was my piano teacher for 2 and a half years. She taught me from scratch and brought me up to grade 5 piano and theory. I got mostly all distinctions in my grade results because of how she pushed me to try my hardest and allowed me to enjoy my lessons and practicing. Lorraine was the most fun to be around and the kindest person who taught me everything i needed to know and more.

Lorraine should be your first call if you decide to take up piano lessons in the Southend area. She’s a highly regarded educator with a wealth of experience in both preparing students for ABRSM exams and help with performance and theory at the beginning stages right through to GCSE, A-Level and University degree course level. A wide variety of styles are covered and you’ll be sure to enjoy a) the lessons themselves, b) practicing what was discussed at the lesson, c) the great sense of accomplishment that comes with learning music really well on the piano.

I’ve been with Miss Lorraine for about 4 years now and she has taken me through about 8 exams in piano, theory and violin. She has pushed me further unlike my previous teachers and in return I receive good marks. Our lessons are really fun as we not only partake in grades but also other solos, duets and helps me with my GCSE work. I really do recommend her as a teacher as I feel like I wouldn’t be the pianist and violinist I am today without her.

I started playing the piano (my only instrument) for the first time as an adult with very little previous musical training. With Lorena’s help and patience she has guided me through all my practical & theory ABRSM exams I am now on my grade 5 theory and grade 4 practical. I never thought I would come this far Lorena makes the lessons enjoyable and adaptable I am so glad I have found a 1st class teacher.
